Cook, Sutton and Doble take a win apiece at North Yorkshire circuit

Croft produced a breathless chapter in the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship as Josh Cook, Ash Sutton and Mikey Doble each claimed a victory on a dramatic weekend in North Yorkshire.

Across three incident-packed races, the title fight took several twists, with the likes of Tom Ingram, Dan Cammish and championship leader Sutton all enduring at least one setback each during race day.

Yet Sutton’s nearest challengers were unable to capitalise, as the NAPA Racing UK driver expertly edges closer to a record fifth BTCC Drivers’ crown. Cammish now trails by 115 points, with reigning champion Ingram a further eight adrift.

Alliance Racing/Ford and NAPA Racing UK continue to set the pace in the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ and Teams’ standings, while Doble and LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing remain out front in the Independents’ classifications.

Dexter Patterson is closing in on the Jack Sears Trophy, but at Croft it was young WSR BMW rookie Lewis Gilbert who stole the spotlight, as the Scotsman won in the category this weekend.

The championship now heads to Silverstone for its penultimate event, with the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship resuming in three weeks’ time on 26/27 September.

Cook takes victory in dramatic Croft opener

Speedworks Corolla Racing's Cook took victory in Round 22 of the 2026 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship in a heavily rain-affected race at Croft.

The fight for major honours proved to be a pulsating watch as a quartet of multiple race winners pulled away from the rest of the field.

Cook made the perfect launch on wet tyres, his Toyota Corolla controlling the race from the front while NAPA Racing UK teammates Cammish and Sutton worked hard to keep reigning champion Ingram at arm’s length in the #80 Team VERTU Hyundai.

Ingram clearly appeared to have the pace to challenge for victory, but Sutton played the rear-gunner role for his Ford Focus Titanium teammate Cammish as the leading group held station through much of a tense and absorbing contest.

The drama intensified when both Cammish and Ingram were handed five-second penalties under the newly tightened track-limits rules, though that did little to cool the scrap on circuit as Ingram drew alongside Sutton’s #116 Ford Focus.

As the wet tyres began to fade, Sutton ran wide at Sunny, allowing Ingram through before the Hyundai driver quickly dispatched of Cammish ahead of him.

Ingram even found a way past Cook’s Toyota on the road on the penultimate tour, but Speedworks Motorsport had already informed its pole-sitter that his rival’s penalty would ultimately decide the outcome.

Cook duly secured the victory, with Sutton classified second and Ingram third, while Cammish salvaged fourth ahead of the distant Team VERTU Hyundai of Ricky Collard.

Sutton wins at Croft to move fifth on all-time BTCC wins list

NAPA Racing UK’s Sutton swept to victory in Croft’s second contest, taking the 55th win of his BTCC career and strengthening his grip on the championship lead.

The Ford driver produced a stunning opening-lap move around the outside of pole-sitter Cook’s Toyota at Tower, then broke clear to control the race from the front.

The result not only moved Sutton closer to a record fifth BTCC Drivers’ crown, but also lifted him above Gordon Shedden on the all-time winners’ list, with only Jason Plato, Colin Turkington, Matt Neal and Andy Rouse now ahead.

Behind him, the fight for the remaining podium places was complicated by five-second track-limits penalties for both CPRL’s Daniel Rowbottom and Team VERTU’s Collard.

Such was their pace, however, that Rowbottom’s #32 Mercedes A35 Saloon and Collard’s #11 Hyundai i30N Fastback had built enough of a cushion to retain second and third respectively.

Cammish endured a difficult opening lap in his NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus Titanium as he slipped down the order, before responding with a string of strong laps and decisive overtakes. Contact with Team VERTU’s Ingram left the reigning champion in the barrier, but Cammish continued to finish fourth.

Doble takes third BTCC career victory 

LKQ Euro Car Parts with Power Maxed Racing’s Doble delivered a superb victory in Croft’s finale, the driver of the #88 Audi taking his third BTCC career win.

Having won at the first time of asking in the new Audi A3 Saloon at Donington Park in April, Doble has had to remain patient before getting his next opportunity.

Doble’s chance came from pole position in the reverse-grid race at the North Yorkshire circuit, and he made full use of it as teammate Aiden Moffat delivered a textbook rear-gunner display in the early laps, allowing him to build a commanding lead.

There was immediate trouble behind at the first corner, with several cars either spun around or forced out of contention on the opening lap.

The flashpoint appeared to stem from contact between the Ford of NAPA Racing UK’s Cammish and Hyundai of Team VERTU’s Collard, pitching the latter into a spin in front of the pack. Sutton’s Ford and the Toyota of Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport’s Árón Taylor-Smith were among those caught up, prompting an immediate safety car intervention.

After a lengthy recovery for the stranded cars of Collard and Taylor-Smith, racing resumed with Doble still in control ahead of fellow PMR driver Moffat.

Team VERTU's Tom Chilton eventually nudged his way by Moffat's Audi, as he was battered and bruised further down the top ten order.

Doble, Chilton and an impressive run from the Toyota of Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport's Gordon Shedden helped the trio to the podium positions, whilst Cook (Speedworks Corolla Racing – Toyota) and Adam Morgan (CPRL – Mercedes) produced extraordinary performances to claim fourth and fifth respectively.
